A weekend to remember with The Gasthaus Adler Hotel
April 27, 2018
Had the most memorable time at the 400 year old Gasthaus Adler hotel in the Dolomites. We sat down with the owners and family which has been running it for the past 50 years and got some great information!
What is unique about your hotel's location?
The Gasthaus Adler is located in a very small village surrounded by nature. People come here, not only to be active and enjoy the wide range of outdoor activities offered, but also to experience nature and tranquility and to escape the everyday life.
In Summer you will find numerous hiking possibilities in the area of Three Peaks/3Zinnen Dolomites which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage. It is not only a premiere mountaineering destination but offers a wide range of activities for everyone.
In Winter the Dolomites are the perfect place for a ski holidays. You can enjoy more than more than 100 km of uncrowded and expertly prepared slopes for all levels of ability.
Villabassa is well located in the middle of two important ski resorts, the Kronplatz and 3 Peaks Dolomites which are part of the Dolomiti Superski, the biggest ski carousel in the world.
You can also reach Cortina d´Ampezzo and Alta Badia from the hotel for more ski adventures.
With our excellent public transport system, we try to encourage our guests to leave their cars parked at the hotel and move by train. You can reach both ski and hiking resorts, open winter and summer with the Ski Val Pusteria Express within 25 minutes from the hotel.
The variety of options we offer our guests in summer and winter, surrounded by nature and tranquility makes our location so special.
What is the atmosphere of your hotel? What types of guests does it attract?
The Hotel Gasthaus Adler is a historical place, standing out by its tradition and familiar atmosphere. 400 years old family run business and 50 years of Family Pircher is what makes us so special.
We are also part of the “Südtiroler Gasthaus”, a selection of traditional and historic guesthouses with a homely atmosphere a genuine and original cuisine, where only high quality and seasonal products are served.
We certainly attract guests who like small family run hotels, traditional and homemade food of the region. Active guests decide to come and stay at our hotel because of the variety of activities in the surroundings. We also attract guests, who simply enjoy the food and like beautiful walks in the nature.
I would say overall, guests decide to come to our hotel, because they love a traditional and historic guesthouse where you can experience the south Tyrolian culture the best and also have many outdoor activity options.
What authentic local experiences will guests have access to?
Region of the 3 Peaks
Alta Pusteria is blessed with impressive mountains of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage, beautiful landscapes with Dolomite lakes.
Don´t miss the impressive magical dance of colors, from cool greys to glowing reds, take a closer look and try out many hiking possibilities around the Three Peaks.
Lago di Braies, one of the largest and deepest natural lakes in the world. The lake is only 10 km from the hotel and it is definitely worth a visit. We recommend to go early morning or before sunset to avoid too many people.
3 Peaks Dolomiti ski resort, 5 mountains and 100 km of perfect prepared slopes with a stunning view.
The nature park Fanes-Senes-Braies, Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage comprises an area of over 25,000 hectares and offers countless hiking and also climbing possibilities.
Experience traditional food
Val Pusteria is well known for its delicious food made of local and regional products. You will find many good restaurants and also places with their own farm using their own products for traditional dishes, passed on from generation to generation.
Our Restaurant, Adler Stube , is part of the Südtiroler Gasthaus. This organization certifies only historical and family run guesthouses to preserve south Tyrolean restaurant culture.
Helene Markart, the chef and owner of the Hotel Gasthaus Adler published two recipe books about local, traditional cuisine interpreted in a new way. Only high quality and seasonal products from the local area are used to create her dishes.
The combination of hiking and eating in the so called “Rifugio”, a hut at the top of the mountain where you will find amazing homemade food, is definitely one thing to do in the area of the Dolomites.
What makes your hotel memorable and unforgettable?
We think the familiar and special atmosphere makes a stay at the Hotel Gasthaus Adler unforgettable. We receive our guests with the south Tyrolian informal and genuine cordiality to make them feel as they were at home.
The passion of the Pircher Family and the tradition, passed from generation to generation and also the excellent food prepared by Helene Markart herself is what makes us so authentic.
We are also very proud of the refined personal touch of our hotel, a happy marriage of tradition and modernity.
